Born and raised just miles from the property, founders Jared and Kate established this retreat as a tribute to The Great Black Swamp. Driven by a deep respect for the health of our ecosystem and an overdo appreciation of their homestown's native landscape, they sought to build an homage to Northwest Ohio that articulates both its beauty and its environmental history. Fusing their expertise in forestry, philosophy, and management, Jared and Kate have crafted an experience that expands the definition of luxury to necessarily include natural, beautiful, wild things.

We built The Black Swamp Bunkhouse both as a celebration of the Northwest Ohio landscape, and as an invitation to reclaim the wild from which we all emerged."
